Black History Month 2021

Robust programming series planned throughout February

Throughout the month of February and thanks to the efforts of the 麻豆传媒团队 William A. McClain Center for Diversity, Wittenberg will host numerous events and activities as part of its robust Black History Month programming series.

鈥淭here is a whole lot of collaborative programming this year,鈥 said Corrine Witherspoon, director of the McClain Center for Diversity. 鈥淭his year we鈥檝e planned events that fill most of the month. Honestly that wasn鈥檛 purposeful, but the reception from the Wittenberg community was so overwhelming. We have some awesome programs this year and I鈥檓 excited that our Witt community is just as pumped to celebrate Black History Month as the McClain staff.鈥

Programs this week include Wittenberg鈥檚 American International Association (AIA) presenting 鈥淏lack Lives Matter 鈥 A Global Movement,鈥 Paris is Burning watch parties, Black History Quiz Night, a block party, and a mental health seminar.

鈥淩epresentation matters and so does celebration and acknowledgement,鈥 Witherspoon added. 鈥淏y sharing the voices of Black leaders, alumni, and current students, the Wittenberg community is acknowledging the rich history of the Black Diaspora. It is a goal of the McClain Center to keep the celebration going 365 days a year.鈥

Witherspoon invites the campus community to attend the following programs and engagement opportunities.
