Senior Salute 2014 - Jordyn Baker
鈥淲ittenberg's values of helping students develop Wholeness of Person has inspired me throughout my four years here. I have been able to develop in the classroom and out of the classroom into the type of professional and personal person I want to be. I have been able to develop a wholeness of person that I am very proud of because of the support from my professors, the staff, and my fellow students.鈥
Jordyn Baker '14

Jordyn Baker, a communication major with minors in psychology and women鈥檚 studies, from Chillicothe, Ohio, reflects on the supportive environment at Wittenberg that helped her learn to lead.

鈥淚 am very proud of No Woman Left Behind and the One Student Movement that Matt Pfouts and I were able to bring to this campus. NWLB has grown so much from the time we sat in Post writing its constitution, and I am so proud of the strengths of the members and the support it has seen from the administration and student body,鈥 Baker remarks.

With such support from the faculty and staff, who develop close relationships with students, Baker hopes to help future students become leaders as well. Following graduation, she鈥檒l attend Southern Illinois University as a member of the College Student Personnel Master鈥檚 Program.

"When I came to Witt I never expected to be so involved or to have the greatest times of my life, but I have. I have had so many great chances to grow as a person because of the community at Wittenberg. Wittenberg does more than prepare you for a job after college; Wittenberg prepares you to be the person you want to be after college and have the greatest four years doing it.鈥

Her advice for future students: 鈥淏e aware of the great opportunities Wittenberg provides. There are a lot of schools that have great academics, internship opportunities, and other programs that will look great on a resume, but Wittenberg teaches its students how to become leaders and how to embrace the characteristics within yourself that will help you succeed in life.鈥
